When we help clients figure out how to get the most exceptional water quality throughout their house, questions often arise about reverse osmosis under the kitchen sink or filters under all the sinks in the home. (This is called “Point of Use Treatment” or POU in our industry.) The POU system comparison to whole house filtration shows how much more effective the whole house filtration is. Whole house filtration is definitely favorable because you get exceptional water quality without the ongoing maintenance and hassles of having separate water filters under each fixture. Plus you aren’t required to incur any of the additional construction costs such as drilling granite and all those different things that POU water systems often require. Whole house water filters treat the water at the point where it enters the home and because of this we can address drinking water, ice making, bathing and showering issues all at once. Point of use system can not easily do this. A separate unit needs to be under every sink and added to every shower.
